ALL EARS ON WILLIAM ONYEABOR / De Zolder x Kunstfabriek


Art Direction and Set Design in collaboration with the curator Tirza

This edition centered on the enigmatic figure of William Onyeabor, exploring not only his hypnotic electronic funk but the political and cultural landscape of 1980s Nigeria that shaped it. Beyond the sound, the evening reflected on myth, spirituality, post-colonial modernism, and the mystique surrounding the artist himself.

As art director and set designer, I translated this layered narrative into space. Tying the content of the exhibition to the built narrative of the evening. Worked with light, symbolism, and bold graphic elements to echo the synthetic pulse of his music. The environment balanced futurism and intimacy, turning the Kunstfabriek into a living tribute to Onyeabor’s otherworldly universe.
